Certified Climate Change Professional® (CC-P®) Credential Training Programs

This program is designed to help participants build competencies to effectively integrate climate change into their decision-making and professional activities, as well as to advance their entrepreneurship and leadership skills. Leveraging a combination of on-demand online training resources and in-person cohort training, this workshop series will prepare attendees for the CC-P® exams and satisfy most elective requirements for the credential.

Participation in the Training

There is no fee to attend this training program.

Participation in the Maryland Leadership Climate Academy is made possible by the State of Maryland.  Registrants are expected to actively participate in scheduled classes.

Individuals who do not meet or satisfy the requirements without reasonable justification may be ruled ineligible to participate in future Maryland Climate Leadership Academy or ACCO programs.

CC-P® Credential Requirements & Exam Fees

Please note the important credential requirements and testing information in the attached brochure. Class participants are not required to pursue the CC-P® or the CC-P® Candidate.

Note: The curriculum in this training series is being offered by ACCO to a national audience. Participants will include professionals outside the State of Maryland. Due to the Coronavirus, ACCO and the State of Maryland are making these programs available through the Maryland Climate Leadership Academy. As a result, we have added an extra session in which all scenarios, case studies, policies and programs that are normally woven throughout the in-person version of this program will be offered in a single webinar.


About the Certified Climate Change Professional® (CC-P®) Credential

As the implications of climate change on operations, missions and organizational interests, demand for skilled and seasoned professionals able to integrate an understanding of climate change and related response strategies into decision-making across professional functions will surge.  Earning the Certified Climate Change Professional® (CC-P®) signifies that you have developed the fundamentals skills and knowledge to effectively support climate change initiatives and connects you to the premier community of professionals, organizations and experts worldwide.

Who Should Enroll

  • Mid-level practitioners and senior executives in local/state government agencies and the private sector with roles related to planning, infrastructure, emergency management, energy, facilities, resilience, sustainability, environment, operations or risk management

  • Non-profit organization staff working with local/state government agencies on resilience, sustainability, economic development or public health planning

  • Faculty in higher-education institutions and community colleges teaching in programs related to public policy, business management, civil engineering, public health, emergency management and law

Program Requirements

  • Fully attend all online classes as scheduled;

  • Participate in online exercises in good faith collaboration with fellow participants;

  • Conduct approximately 1-2 hours of self-study in advance of each class;

  • Complete a pre-class questionnaire for the State of Maryland; and

  • Take a 30-40 minute knowledge assessment that will be provided prior to the first class.

The CC-P® Candidate is the perfect stepping stone to becoming a future Certified Climate Change Professional® (CC-P®). This program is designed for:

  • Professionals transitioning to a career in climate change who do not currently satisfy the experience requirements of the CC-P®; and

  • Young professionals and students about to graduate looking to get a climate change position or job.
