Academy Newsletter

Winter 2022 (Issue No. 3)

This newsletter is by and for participants and alumni of the Maryland Climate Leadership Academy, the nation’s first state-sponsored institution providing continuing education and executive training programs specifically designed for state and local government officials, infrastructure executives and business leaders.

Maryland Climate Leadership Academy’s Voices on Climate, Equity & Inclusion

Maryland Climate Leadership Academy alumni played key roles in the inaugural CC-P® Summit (hosted by ACCO in December 2021).  While equity had its own dedicated track, it was an important thread woven through all discussions at the Summit. Alumnae Dorothy Morrison, Wendy Howard and Rachelle Sanderson helped us put together some takeaways to share with fellow Marylanders. We also asked Charmaine Brown from the Maryland Commission on Climate Change to weigh in.

Q&A with UMCES’ Dr. Katie May Laumann:
Maryland Coastal Adaptation report Card

The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) recently released the first Maryland Coastal Adaptation Report Card that gives a snapshot of the current adaptation status in Maryland’s coastal counties and establishes a framework for measuring future progress. Read this issue’s Q&A with Dr. Katie May Laumann, a science integrator on the UMCES research staff.
